HGV transmission jacks for heavy gearbox work.
Commercial vehicle gearboxes and transmissions need controlled support during removal and refitting. A heavy-duty transmission jack takes the weight beneath an HGV, bus or coach and allows the unit to be raised, lowered and positioned during the job.
Held while it is unbolted and lowered clear of the chassis.
Raised and tilted in small movements to meet the bell housing.
Used under vehicles on a lift or from a pit workshop.
Removing and refitting commercial gearboxes
During removal, the transmission jack supports the unit while it is disconnected and lowered clear of the chassis.
On refit, it allows the gearbox to be raised and adjusted in controlled movements so it can be aligned with the engine.
Transmission jacks can be used beneath vehicles on commercial vehicle lifts or in pit workshops, so the jack needs to suit the actual working height and bay arrangement.
What we ask before recommending a jack
The jack is matched to the transmissions being handled and the way the workshop is laid out.
Gearbox weight and type
Manual, automated manual and automatic transmissions vary in weight and shape. Liftmaster needs the vehicle and gearbox information before matching a jack and saddle.
Lift or pit
The required jack arrangement changes depending on whether the technician works from the workshop floor beneath a lift or from inside an inspection pit.
Working height
The jack's travel has to suit the chassis height and the working position created by the lift or pit. No travel range should be assumed without the equipment specification.
More heavy-vehicle workshop equipment
Transmission work often goes hand in hand with axle and hub jobs. The rest of the heavy-vehicle workshop range is on the workshop equipment page.

Liftmaster has supplied workshop equipment since 1985. The Commercial team can help with equipment selection, while commercial lifts and other supported lifting equipment can be included in planned servicing and LOLER thorough examination where applicable. Service coverage is provided through Liftmaster’s own engineers and trusted subcontractors.

Tell us the vehicles and the gearboxes. We will suggest the jack.
Send the vehicle and gearbox details and whether the work is carried out over a lift or inspection pit. The Commercial team can confirm the appropriate transmission jack and provide a price.
