ATF Equipment & Test Lanes

ATF equipment and complete test lanes for HGV and PSV.

Liftmaster supplies and coordinates the equipment used in HGV and PSV Authorised Testing Facility lanes, including commercial brake testing, load simulation, play detection, headlamp beam testing, inspection pits and pit jacks. The equipment and layout are specified together so the lane can be installed, calibrated and commissioned as one project.

Lane Equipment

The equipment behind an ATF lane

An ATF lane combines several pieces of commercial testing equipment. Each item has its own role, but the lane layout needs them to work together.

Braking

Brake testers

Commercial roller brake testers for HGV and PSV lanes, including BM Autoteknik in-ground equipment, the Capelec CAP9110 for suitable existing recesses and the BM20200 mobile option.

Unladen vehicles

Load simulation

Load simulation is used with brake testing where unladen or part-laden vehicles need additional axle load during the test. The arrangement is planned with the brake tester and pit.

About load simulation ›
Steering & suspension

Play detectors

Commercial play detectors move the wheels under load so steering and suspension movement can be inspected as part of the lane.

Headlamps

Headlamp beam testers

Commercial headlamp beam testers check and set headlamp aim as part of the vehicle-testing process.

Access

Inspection pits

The pit provides under-vehicle access and can house or work around the play detector, jacking equipment and other lane components.

Jacking

Pit jacks

Pit jacks raise an axle from inside the inspection pit when wheels or suspension need to be checked free of load.

Complete Lane

Complete ATF test lanes

For permanent lanes, BM Autoteknik in-ground brake-testing equipment can be incorporated into the floor and pit layout. Where an existing recess is suitable, the Capelec CAP9110 may provide an alternative. The BM20200 is the current mobile brake-testing option for sites where a fixed in-ground tester is not appropriate.

Liftmaster surveys the site, specifies the equipment and coordinates installation, calibration and the relevant commissioning work.

What's Included

ATF lane equipment, specified together

Liftmaster coordinates the testing equipment and its layout around the pit or ramp so the brake tester, play detector, headlamp equipment and access arrangement are planned as one lane.

01

Roller brake tester

ATF roller brake testing equipment is selected around the vehicles and the lane specification. The Commercial range includes equipment rated up to 20,000kg.

02

Play detector

Commercial play detection installed in the pit, floor or mobile arrangement required by the lane.

03

Headlamp & meters

Headlamp beam testing and associated lane measurement equipment specified for the commercial testing process.

04

Pit or ramp layout

The inspection and testing equipment is positioned around the access arrangement so the vehicle can move through the lane in the required sequence.

A Different Facility

Class 5 MOT bays

Class 5 MOT bays are separate from ATF lanes. They are used for Class 5 passenger vehicles with 13 or more seats and must be specified around the requirements that apply to that MOT test class.

Liftmaster can supply and install the brake-testing, play-detection and other bay equipment for a Class 5 station without treating it as an ATF lane.

How We Deliver

Planned, installed and commissioned as one job

Liftmaster surveys the site and plans the testing equipment around the pit or ramp, power, drainage and vehicle flow. Equipment is installed and calibrated to the requirements that apply, with support through commissioning and handover. Ongoing calibration, planned servicing and breakdown support are available through Liftmaster’s own engineers and trusted subcontractors. See installation and servicing for support after handover.

Step oneSurvey

Pit, power and drainage checked against the lane layout.

Step twoInstall

Equipment fitted and set out around the pit or ramp.

Step threeCommission

Calibrated and commissioned to the requirements that apply.

Tell us the site and the vehicles. We will plan the lane.

Send the vehicles to be tested, the existing or proposed pit or ramp, and whether the project is an ATF lane or Class 5 MOT bay. The Commercial team can then develop the equipment list, layout and quotation.
