LMKPP65 king pin press for HGV steer axles.
King pins on commercial steer axles rarely come out easily. The LMKPP65 is Liftmaster's own king pin press, for pressing worn pins and bushes out and new ones in with controlled force, on HGV, bus and coach steer axles.
LMKPP65 king pin press
The LMKPP65 is designed for commercial steer-axle king pin work. Suitability depends on the axles being maintained, so Liftmaster confirms the application before supply.

What king pin replacement involves
The king pin forms the steering pivot at the axle end. Wear in the pin and bushes eventually requires the assembly to be stripped and the worn components replaced.
Strip the axle end
The wheel, hub and brake components are removed so the stub axle and king pin can be accessed.
Press out the old pin
The worn or seized pin is pressed from the axle assembly.
Replace the bushes
Old bushes are removed and the replacement bushes fitted squarely in the stub axle.
Fit the new pin
The replacement pin is installed and the axle end rebuilt and checked.
Controlled force instead of hammers and heat
A press applies steady force in line with the pin rather than relying on repeated impact. This reduces reliance on heavy hammering and heat during removal and installation.
Less risk of damage
Controlled pressing helps avoid unnecessary impact on the axle beam, stub axle and replacement components.
Safer to work with
The press reduces the need for heavy hammering in an awkward working position.
A repeatable job
Once the press is matched to the axles in the workshop, the same controlled process can be used for repeated king pin replacement work.
What we help you work out
The right king pin press depends on the vehicles being maintained and where the work happens. These are the points the Commercial team talks through.
Which axles you work on
Liftmaster needs the HGV, bus or coach axle information before confirming whether the LMKPP65 suits the work.
Where the work happens
The team considers whether the work is carried out over an inspection pit, on a commercial lift or at floor level.
How the press is positioned
The press has to be brought into line with the king pin and supported correctly for the axle arrangement.
