Commercial roller brake testers, from the names that set the standard.
Liftmaster supplies commercial roller brake testers from Capelec and BM Autoteknik for HGV and PSV workshops and ATF lanes. The tester is selected around the vehicles, lane layout and whether the installation is fixed or mobile, then installed and calibrated to the applicable requirements.

Capelec CAP9110 HGV brake tester
The CAP9110 is a commercial roller brake tester for vehicles over 3,500kg, and a compact option for lanes with an existing recess.
CAP9110Compact enough to fit most existing recesses
Liftmaster surveys the recess before equipment is ordered so the fit and any adaptation can be confirmed. It controls and measures the braking of road vehicles over 3,500kg, and suits PTI stations, commercial repair shops and HGV manufacturers alike.
The CAP9110 uses a reinforced galvanised steel frame with corrosion protection for intensive commercial use, and a touch-screen operator interface with remote display and control options available within the existing equipment specification.
Compact footprint
Its compact frame is intended to reduce the amount of alteration required where a suitable commercial brake-test recess already exists.
Built for daily use

Touch screen and remote

BM Autoteknik commercial in-ground testers
BM Autoteknik in-ground roller brake testers are used for permanent commercial testing lanes. The range covers different HGV and PSV applications and is specified around the heaviest vehicles the lane is intended to test.
Commercial in-ground
For mixed HGV and PSV testing in a permanent lane.
Heavy commercial in-ground
For heavier commercial vehicle work where the lane specification requires the larger in-ground tester.
BM Autoteknik HGV and PSV roller brake testers are approved against the revised DVSA ATF testing specification. We handle the software update and DVSA commissioning as part of the install.
BM20200 mobile commercial brake tester
The BM20200 is the mobile option in the Commercial range and is rated at up to 20,000kg per axle. It is intended for sites that need commercial brake testing without a fixed in-ground installation and can be paired with a mobile play detector as part of an on-ground ATF layout.
BM20200Load simulation for HGV brake testing
An unladen or part-laden HGV can lock its wheels on the rollers before the brakes generate the force expected under working load. Load simulation increases the downward force on the axle so the brake tester can continue measuring as braking force rises.
Light axles lock early
With little weight over the axle, wheel lock can stop the test before the braking system reaches a representative force.
Extra downward force on the axle
Hydraulic load simulation works from the pit to increase the force on the axle during the brake test.
A more representative result
The additional axle load allows higher brake forces to be measured than an unladen test alone.
Planned with the pit and the lane
Load simulation usually works from below the vehicle, so it is best planned together with the inspection pit and the brake tester recess rather than added later. BM Autoteknik was among the first to build heavy-vehicle roller brake testers using hydraulic lift and load simulation.
The right arrangement depends on the vehicles you test, the pit you have or plan to build, and the tester. Ask us which load simulation arrangement suits your lane, or see how it fits into a complete ATF test lane.
Most useful where vehicles are tested empty or part-laden.
Planned with the pit and the brake tester recess.
Play detection and headlamp testing
The lane equipment that goes in alongside the brake tester: a DVSA-approved play detector to work the joints under load, and a headlamp beam tester to set aim to standard. For the whole lane, see ATF equipment and test lanes.
Commercial play detector
Commercial play detectors move the wheels under load so steering and suspension movement can be inspected from the pit or floor position.
Headlamp beam tester
The Capelec CAP2500 is the headlamp beam tester in the current Commercial range for mixed vehicle sites, from cars through to HGVs.
CAP9110, in-ground or mobile
All three test commercials to standard. The choice comes down to your civil work, how the lane runs, and whether it is for DVSA. If you are building a lane from scratch, our ATF equipment and test lanes page covers the full layout.
Add HGV testing to an existing lane
The CAP9110 is the route to assess where an existing recess may be suitable. Fit must be confirmed by survey.
A permanent DVSA ATF lane
BM Autoteknik in-ground testers are the fixed-lane option and are selected around the commercial vehicles the site is approved and configured to test.
Testing without a fixed pit
The BM20200 provides the mobile alternative and can be paired with mobile play detection where an on-ground ATF arrangement is appropriate.
Installation, calibration and support
Liftmaster checks the pit or recess, power and drainage against the proposed tester before installation. The brake tester is installed and calibrated to the requirements that apply to the lane, with support through the relevant commissioning process. Ongoing calibration, servicing and breakdown support are provided through Liftmaster’s own engineers and trusted subcontractors.
Pit, power and drainage checked against the equipment spec.

Planned calibration and callout through our own engineers and trusted subcontractors.
Tell us the lane and the vehicles. We will spec the testing line.
Send the site details, vehicle weights and whether the equipment is for an ATF lane or another commercial testing application. The Commercial team can specify the appropriate tester and supporting equipment and provide a quotation and installation plan.
