MOT & DVSA

Keep your bay calibrated and in test

DVSA requires MOT testing equipment to be calibrated and serviced every 6 months. Liftmaster provides MOT bay servicing and calibration for the test equipment covered by the bay, including brake testers, headlamp testers and emissions equipment.

Calibration, planned servicing and LOLER thorough examination are separate activities. Where a vehicle lift also requires LOLER examination, that work should be scheduled against the LOLER requirement rather than treated as part of the MOT equipment calibration interval. For vehicle-lift LOLER examination and wider workshop support, see servicing and calibration.

Service coverage is arranged through Liftmaster’s own engineers and trusted subcontractors nationwide.

What we calibrate

The whole bay, one visit

Where the equipment and site allow, Liftmaster can coordinate MOT bay servicing and calibration during the same attendance. Each item is still calibrated or serviced to the requirement that applies to that equipment.

Test equipment

Calibrated to DVSA standards

The current service scope includes roller and plate brake testers, decelerometers, headlamp beam testers, gas analysers, diesel smoke meters, ATL weighing facilities and motorcycle weighing facilities.

Emissions equipment is calibrated to the required standard, with UKAS-accredited calibration where it applies. Liftmaster provides the calibration documentation produced for the equipment serviced.

Stay in test

Servicing and reminders

Liftmaster can record the calibration dates for supported MOT equipment and arrange the next visit against the applicable DVSA schedule. Planned servicing can be coordinated with calibration where the equipment and timing allow.

Book a calibration

Keep testing without a lapse

Tell Liftmaster what MOT bay equipment you run and the current calibration dates. The service team will review the equipment and schedule the servicing and calibration required against the applicable DVSA dates.

FAQs

Servicing and calibration questions

How often must MOT bay equipment be calibrated?
DVSA requires MOT testing equipment to be calibrated and serviced every 6 months. Miss a calibration and the equipment falls out of test, which stops testing.
What MOT equipment do you calibrate?
Roller and plate brake testers, decelerometers, headlamp beam testers, emissions analysers and diesel smoke meters, and ATL and motorcycle weighing facilities, all to DVSA standards.
Do you calibrate emissions analysers?
Yes. Gas analysers and diesel smoke meters are calibrated to the required standard, with UKAS-accredited calibration where the equipment calls for it.
Do you service equipment you did not supply?
In most cases yes. We service and calibrate most makes of MOT bay equipment. Confirm your makes and models with the service team.
